The Bicolorskirt is a simple skirt that is knitted with two colors using the intarsia technique. It is worked seamlessly top down and has an icord edge at the hem. The special feature is the diagonal color change, with well hidden increases to shape the hips. The skirt can be worked as a mini or in a modern midi length with a slit at the center back. Note that the color distribution varies depending on the size, larger sizes are worked with 4 color sections throughout!

Size guide

The skirt should approximately match the measured body measurements at both the waist and hips.

Of course, it’s possible that your body measurements don’t go along with just one size. In this case you should go for a cross size (for example waist circumference = size S and hip circumference = size M). You can easily adapt the pattern on your individual size. You just need to know that it is knitted up in 3 sections.

  • Work the waistband without increases.
  • After that knit increases for the hips.
  • knit straight from the hip to the hem without decreases or increases.

If you want to knit a cross size, section 2 is important for you, because you need to adapt the number of increases.

First you choose the size that fits your waist circumference and start knitting the skirt according to this size. Then you may need to adjust the number of increases for the hips (section 2). The instructions describe three ways to knit this second section. Now you need to check whether waist and hips need to be knitted in the same size (version 1), whether the hips need to be one size larger than the waist (version 2) or whether the hips need to be one size smaller than the waist (version 3).
